First look: SA made ABC series Teenage Boss Next Level

11 September 2024

SA made and SAFC supported factual series Teenage Boss: Next Level will premiere on Saturday 12 October on ABC Family and iview – get a first look at the new series below!

The latest production to come out of the ABC SAFC Content Pipeline Fund and the second season of Teenage Boss to be filmed in South Australia, Teenage Boss: Next Level is produced by award-winning executive producer John McAvoy of McAvoy Media with South Australian unscripted creative Colin Thrupp serving as co-executive producer.

Host Emma Watkins (The Amazing Race, The Wiggles) takes us deep inside the world of 10 South Australian households where teens are placed in charge of their family’s finances for one whole month. Watch them learn to budget, face real-life dilemmas, and discover creative ways to balance their household expenses, while still managing to have a blast.

Teenage Boss: Next Level filmed in South Australia earlier this year, supported by the SAFC’s ABC SAFC Content Pipeline Fund, with crews utilising the SAFC’s Adelaide Studios facilities and filming out on location.

It’s the latest production to be supported through the exciting screen production partnership between the SAFC and Australia’s national broadcaster, following period drama series Ladies in Black and Logie nominated series Beep and Mort S2 and Gold Diggers.

The production also provided a career boosting opportunity for an emerging South Australian crew member, with local screen practitioner Oliver Wells undergoing paid on-set training in a Production Office Attachment role, working under the guidance of an experienced Production Manager.

SAFC CEO Kate Croser said at the time the production was announced: After the success of South Australia’s involvement in the second season of Teenage Boss we are delighted to welcome McAvoy Media back to the state. The latest production to be supported through the ABC SAFC Content Pipeline Fund, this exciting new series will boost South Australia’s capability in the factual and documentary television production space by expanding and diversifying our bench of experienced factual crew, employing a team of creative South Australians in the field including leading unscripted creative Colin Thrupp.”

Teenage Boss: Next Level premieres on Saturday 12 October at 7.30pm on ABC Family, with all episodes available to stream on ABC iview from Friday 11 October at 7.00am.
