Twelve regional women selected for The Athena Project

Following a nation-wide call-out and a gruelling assessment process, Screenworks has been able to unearth twelve incredibly talented female filmmakers from across regional Australia who have been selected to participate in Screenworks’ upcoming career enhancement program, The Athena Project.
Ruth Estelle, from Adelaide Studios based writing team Word Ninjas, is among those selected for the program , which also includes: BAFTA Award winning director Hattie Dalton (Byron Bay NSW), award-winning animated film writer/director Justine Wallace (Barkers Creek VIC), Nyul Nyul/Yawuru woman and experienced writer/director Jub Clerc (Quedjinup WA) and Co-winner of the Northern Territory Book of the Year 2016, Clare Atkins (Darwin NT). A full list of participants is included in the release attached.
Screenworks has also announced that tickets are now available for the Athena Career Forum, an evening event which will launch the program and will feature Gillian Armstrong as the key speaker. The forum is an opportunity for everyone to benefit from the valuable information and extensive advice that the guest speakers will provide. It will also be an incredible opportunity to network with some of Australia’s leading female filmmakers. The forum will take place 5pm – 9pm on Tuesday 8 November at the Byron at Byron Resort.
